A visit to Lake Placid is a complete experience. Downtown there are art galleries to explore, spas to pamper yourself in, and a wide range of restaurants and places to stay, from fine and fancy to completely casual.

Mirror Lake borders the village, and there’s always action there; fall is the perfect time to paddle the lake or toast marshmallows by a lakeside fire!
And anyone looking to leave the pavement behind will find that nature is never far. The region is home to hundreds of miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and camping. We also have some of the most scenic golf courses anywhere, and road cyclists love twisting and turning through our mountains.

Inspiration is in Lake Placid’s nature, and it’s also in our people. It’s no secret our little mountain village hosted the Winter Olympic Games twice, once in 1932 and again in 1980, and the Olympic Museum is packed with relics from those Games. The famous Miracle On Ice hockey game happened right here — visitors can tour the arena — and future Olympians still use our ski jumps and bobsled track for training.
To explore more of Lake Placid’s history, head out to John Brown Farm State Historic Site, where the famous abolitionist once lived and is now buried. If you go there, don’t forget your hiking boots! The property has plenty of scenic trails to explore.
Start planning your perfect trip today! You perfect day in Lake Placid is waiting for you!
